Hi, I’m Kendall. And an extra big hello to new subscribers - welcome! This substack explores relationships, self, and meaning by examining culture, creativity, and consciousness through a humanistic, existential, and psychodynamic lens.
What are my field notes?
This is my personal collection of essays that I have researched and analyzed to share with you. From psychology to culture to social media - anything that somehow grazes my consciousness and sparks an idea, I like to jot it down and then visit it later to see if it’s worth developing into something. Some of my notes become ideas for screenplays, further research, podcasts or maybe just to help someone I am working with. Other notes may become “to-do lists” orstreams of consciousness. If the note makes it here as an essay or onto the complimentary My Field Notes Podcast, I felt it was worth sharing with you.
I gravitated to the term “field notes” because my academic background is in the social sciences, and when you are “in the field,” you are out in the world researching, learning, and discovering. The field is where my ideas come from because it is where we exist in relation to one another and our culture. As I sort through some of my notes, make connections, and publish in this space, I hope to write something that makes you think differently about a problem or encourages you to feel more empowered or perhaps even inspired.

About me
In my life, I have worked in many “fields,” from Western Samoa, where I studied women and the economy, to Hollywood, where I have made some movies. For over 17 years, I have worked in entertainment in Los Angeles, producing movies, podcasts, and managing talent. I also have an MFA and an MA, and I’m currently pursuing my MACLP in Clinical Psychology to add some more academic punch to my professional experience.
Why am I here? I value your thoughts and feedback. After all, human connection is the key to our beautiful but brief existence.
If you like my work and want to support it, please consider becoming a paid subscriber. You can also just buy me a cup of coffee, so I can keep researching and writing!
Thank you so very much for being here!
Congratulations on this new adventure!
